To celebrate 100 years of RSA’s Student Design Awards, a multimedia animation has been created that showcases the innovation of previous SDA winners as individual artworks within the iconic RSA house in London.

Research:

After analysing the transcript and thoroughly researching into the RSA and SDAs, I came across the key insight that the RSA has gone through many paradigm shifts. As the SDAs have evolved, the winning entries have become more and more innovative.

Before deciding on a visual style for the animation I researched into the evolution of animation. Like the SDAs, there are many forms of analogue animation techniques that are innovative, unique and have evolved over time. I found that using a hand-made design approach gives the animation a humanistic feel, refreshing and grounding in today’s world of technology.
